Balay Buhay sa Uma Bee Farm

If you're reading this, you probably decided to continue going on this adventure with me so YAY!

We were supposed to go to Bulusan Lake right after Paguriran Lagoon but time did not permit us to do so anymore because the Lake closes at 5pm and we didn't want to just rush through it. So, we decided to head to the place where we shall retire for the night and maximize the nature it provides!

From my last blog entry, I left off with us riding a jeepney from Sorsogon City Center to Irosin (P50, 1 hour ride). Then from Irosin (make sure you take the jeepney that will drop you as close to Balay Buhay as possible to avoid paying extra ), we rode a tricycle taking us straight to Balay Buhay (15-20 minute ride).

4:00pm Arrival at Irosin

3:40-4:00pm Tricycle ride from Irosin to Balay Buhay

As I was choosing photos for this entry, I realized with great regret that we did not get to take a photo of the gate to Balay Buhay where it had this huge Bee design on it. I CRY.

Anyway, I was really excited to spend the night here at Balay Buhay because it's a dream of mine to live in a farm one day and this one surpassed my expectations and I mean it's way way up there! JUST LOOK AT THIS LUSH GREENERY. AND! LOOK AT THIS WALKWAY (which is also part of that dream of mine, only thing missing is my tree house!)

Then, we decided to go for a swim expecting only a chlorinated swimming pool. But since they wouldn't want to disappoint us, their pool is filled with spring that flows down from the mountains and it was C O L D. But it's the kind of cold that feels like it has healing powers.

Here I am going down the cold water bit by bit (mind the whiney face announcing how cold it is over and over again).

Until.. yep, totally got over it.

If you were wondering, it tastes really good. Really.

Contrary to the large gardens though, the kubos were really small. We had the option to stay in a room good for 6 but it had a modern concrete style, which we wanted to veer away from. I actually thought it'll be a really cramped and slightly uncomfy night for us but it turned out to be one of the best sleeping arrangements I ever had.

Imagine this:

Even before nightfall, the air was already cool. By the time the sun went down, it already felt like Baguio on Christmas day. For dinner, we had tinola to match the cold weather (which gave me the sniffles btw) paired with lemongrass iced tea straight from their farm and the honey from their bee farm and finally mangoes for dessert!

Then when we got cozied up in bed, we could hear the rush of the river flowing right behind us.

What could get better than this?

Waking up to birds singing and a view of the silhouette of the mountains. (We woke up at 4am btw and my body clock still hasn't readjusted since!)

If you would like to make reservations, just leave them a direct message on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/BalayBuhaySaUma/timeline) then they'll be texting you for confirmation.

Total Cost

For a kubo for three people, we spent P1000+P150 (extra bed) while our dinner meal was worth P750 all in all.
